What Is Sexual Shame, Exactly?
Sexual shame is making people feel bad for having sexual feelings, a sexual body, or thoughts about sex and sexuality. Some sexual shame is reasonable, i.e. you shouldn’t sexually touch people against their consent or sexually touch those unable to consent. But for the most part, sexual shame is unnecessary, resulting only in guilt and neurosis. It warps our minds, our families, and our politics.
